"Anyone who can conquer her heart can conquer the world."
(Paulo Coelho, By the River Piedra)

Psychologists and philosophers have argued for years about what emotions are. Emotion defines as “the generic term for subjective, conscious experience that is characterized primarily by psycho physiological expressions, biological reaction and mental states.”
But what are emotions? Does every one of us feel the same way? How do emotions affect our perception and our reality? What evokes happiness or sadness in a person?

N. H. Frijda once said everybody knows the meaning of emotion until they have to define it. Seemingly everyone knows intuitively what emotion is, but we can't find the right words to define it.

Are emotions universal?  Ekman found that isolated cultures express feelings similarly, but are all our feelings the same? How can we know this if we can't define our own feelings in words?

I find it difficult to explain exactly how I feel and sometimes visuals can help me express my inner feelings. I tried to research my emotions and express them through pictures in order to try and understand what emotions are.
The photographs represent my everyday life, while expressing feelings that allow me to better understand myself. Maybe if I understand myself better, I will be able to understand other people better.
